Rock carvings Leiknes
9000 year old rock art
The rock carvings at Leiknes are one of Norway’s largest and most spectacular rock carving fields from the Old Stone Age. The field is located on a boulder a few kilometers south of Korsnes.
The main field covers almost 500 m². It contains 33 more or less complete animal figures, all presented as contour drawings and quite true to nature, so that it is generally very easy to determine their species.
You follow good signs from E6 to a parking lot. From here there is good marking the little trip in a few minutes. The trail is marked with white painted, round stones, both easily and effectively made. There are information boards on site.
